MIM
The M.I.M. technology is the ideal solution to manufacture small metal components of about 20/30 mm that have a complex geometry.
Basically, an injection mould is created; the metal powder is combined with a binder, which is then injected with a press (as for plastic) into the mould to obtain the component required. When constructing the mould, it is important to take into consideration the size reduction of the part once it is sintered; this reduction varies from 12% to 16%, according to the materials.
Once the moulded component is obtained, the binder is removed by means of chemical and thermal processes. Subsequently, the parts are sintered to their final density. At present, we process stainless steel -AISI 316 L-.
